Festival Events and Activities

The 14th annual Madison Winter Festival, a family-friendly event, returns to Elver Park February 3rd and 4th.

MADISON, Wis. – We’ll host activities for the whole family and even pets! There will be over 14 different events including a 5 km running race, a free kids fun run, and a free learn to ski clinic, snowshoe run and a recreational candlelight ski & snowshoe tour. You can even take a run with your dog! Other events include sledding, skijoring, adaptive and open ski opportunities, sledding and ice skating.

Early Season Snow Loop at Elver Park

Madison Nordic Ski Club and Central Cross Country Skiing to host an early season citizen cross-country ski event at Elver Park on December 16.

MADISON, Wis. – A loop of man-made snow measuring roughly 1 kilometer has been created at Elver Park through cooperative efforts by CXC, Winterfest, MadNorSki and City of Madison Parks. The loop includes a variety of terrain with two hill options.

Snowmaking at Elver Park

Snowmaking is taking shape at Elver Park to provide a guaranteed venue for lessons, racing and outdoor winter recreation.

Snowmaking at the west-side park has begun in early December. The goal is to create a 1.5-kilometer loop of manmade snow running from the shelter building past the sledding hill and around the soccer fields. The trail would be open to anyone holding a valid Madison/Dane County parks ski pass, which costs adults $7 a day or $30 a year.
