Cross Country Skiing

Saturday-Sunday / February 2-3

Early Bird Ski Tour

On Saturday morning, take family and friends and do a ski tour. Enjoy skiing on groomed trails and Elver Park at your own pace.

Elver Park is located on the West side of Madison and considered as one of the best places to cross country ski in the Madison area. The park is home to 10km of ski trails. With a base of 4-5″ of natural snow the park will open the East and West trails. The West trails are lit for night skiing. Thanks to volunteers from the Madison Nordic Ski Club and Madison Winter Festival, the park will have machine-made snow on approximately 1-2.5 km of trails that will be used in the event of low snow conditions.

*A cross-country ski permit is required at Elver Park and groomed Dane County Park trails. Adults and children age 16 and older must have a permit. Elver Park’s shelter will have a self service kiosk where you can purchase a daily ski pass ($7).

NOTE: A daily pass is included with the rental of cross-country ski equipment. Trail conditions are weather-dependent and permit fees are non-refundable.
