Join us for a family-friendly 5K Run or Walk through the quiet streets of Madison’s Greentree neighborhood. The race will begin and end at Elver Park on the Madison Winter Festival grounds!

Starting from Elver Park, the 5km running course will take a right turn onto McKenna Blvd. After passing through Greentree-Chapel Hill and Norman Clayton Parks, runners will turn left again onto Laurie Dr. and then turn right onto Alison Ln. Alison Ln. turns into Valley Stream Dr. before runners turn left onto Romford Rd. The course turns left again for a short stretch on Hathaway Dr. before taking a right onto Strathmore Ln. to start the return trip. Strathmore Ln. turns into Greenwich Dr. then, the course turns left back onto Hathaway Dr. After crossing Piping Rock Rd., runners continue on to Woodington Way, turn right onto Winston Dr., left on Piping Rock Rd. and then left onto Frisch Rd. From Frisch the course makes two right turns on Sutton Rd. before getting back on Piping Rock Rd to the right. The course near the end after a left turn onto Saalsaa Rd and left again on Hammersley Rd. before entering back into Elver Park for the finish. See course map.
The run features: chip timing, prizes for overall and age group winners, hot chocolate and cookies for all race participants.
The event is 100% volunteer-run! All proceeds go to support winter recreation in the Madison area. Previous Beneficiaries: Madison Parks, Public Elementary Schools, Dane County Humane Society.
You can pick up your packet early at the Movin’ Shoes Store (528 South Park Street, Madison), 1 pm – 8 pm on Monday, January 29th; and 10 am – 8 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 30-31. Packet pickup is available to everyone registered prior or on January 28th by 8 pm.
Walk up registration and packet pick up is available from 9 – 10:30am at the Elver Park Shelter #2.
Individuals are awarded in the 5K RUN as follows:
– Top 3 men and top 3 women finishers overall;
– First man and first woman finisher per age category.
All registered runners and walkers will receive a Running Buff and complimentary refreshments at the start and finish.
Registration and transaction fees are nonrefundable, including in the event of cancellation.
Frosty Kids Fun Run
If you have a family with young kids, it will be a fun-filled morning. Kids ages 5-9 years can participate in the casual 1K fun run. Children older and younger are more than welcome to join in! All participants receive a prize and snacks at the finish line. Be sure to bring weather appropriate clothing and footwear! The run is free thanks to our generous sponsors and partners listed above.
